TANet Wireless Network Roaming and eduroam Education Roaming

簡介/Introduction

Seamless roaming between campuses is the English name for TANet Wireless Network Roaming. The purpose of wireless network roaming is to provide a single account with cross-domain authentication services for various campuses or academic-related institutions that have wireless networks. This allows users to access the same internet environment as their home institution across different wireless network service units. It aims to facilitate digital applications and diversify information infrastructure on campus networks, thereby enhancing roaming mechanisms.

Our university joined the Taiwan Academic Network (TANet) Wireless Network Roaming Exchange Program in 2009, with the Roaming Center hosted by the Institute for Information Industry (III). In early 2010, the Ministry of Education established the TANet Wireless Network Roaming Center, and our university transferred the Roaming Center to the Roaming Authentication Center at National Ilan University.

The eduroam project aims to establish an international wireless network roaming system to promote the sharing of wireless network services among educational and research institutions worldwide. Our university has joined this program through the TANet Cross-Campus Roaming Center wireless network roaming mechanism. Faculty, staff, and students can connect to wireless networks at domestic and international universities or research institutions participating in the program, achieving seamless network connectivity and resource sharing, enhancing the convenience of international research and learning.

使用方法/Usage Instructions

When connecting to Wi-Fi at a roaming school, select either TANetRoaming or eduroam as the SSID. If the school supports both, it is recommended to use eduroam.

TANetRoaming：Open a browser and enter any URL. The system will automatically redirect to the authentication webpage. Enter your full university email address and campus portal password on the authentication webpage to log in and use Wi-Fi for free.
eduroam：Enter your full university email address and campus portal password on the login interface.
